Erythrina, Erythrina

Dr Abe V Rotor
Locally called dapdap or bagbag (Ilk). The tree loses its leaves

In summer, then profusely blooms. Its bright red flowers break
the monotonous dry landscape. Recently, a pandemic caused by
a wasp virtually killed every standing tree in the tropics. Seldom
can we find a flowering dapdap tree today. Painting by AVRotor
depicting the demise of a once beautiful tree species.

Red, red, oh, the bleeding drops of red,
Erythrina, Erythrina;
stain my palms and feet and my side
and I shall never doubt Him again,
nevermore, nevermore!
